This cute clan happens to be my sister's family. It was so much fun to be their photographer and this session was particularly adventurous because, um, I got a little lost leading them to this magical poppy spot. :) You think I would have known exactly where to go since I was there exactly three days earlier checking out the spot. Apparently I need to work on my navigation skills. After I took two wrong dirt road turns, I finally said, "well let's try this last road and if we can't find it, we will just pick a nice wild spot out here and call it good (there were plenty of other spots throughout our little scenic drive!). And wouldn't you know, that last road led us to this poppy wonderland. They only bloom for a week or two and we were lucky enough to enjoy them in full bloom. Good think they are easygoing and didn't give me too hard of a time about our fun little off-roadin' adventure! ;)
I love having them nearby. Alan is just the nicest, most easygoing guy and also happens to be an awesome chef and guitar player. He is actually a local rock star so you should check out when his band is playing next. :) Heidi and I have a lot of the same interests- we are both nurses, we both love photography, we both love to run (although I'm not yet a marathoner like her!) so we always have lots to chat about. She also does some pretty amazing work to help out families coping with the loss of a baby, in honor of their sweet Elizabeth. You can read about her work and find out how to contribute to her cause by heading to her website here. Anyway, they are a great family and I always have to brag about the cool people I'm related to! Without further ado, I'd love to share some of my favorites from their session!
